Green Team Meatless Monday Recipes
The Green Team would like to encourage our DRCC members and friends to take part in the Meatless Monday Movement during the Lenten season. Lent reminds us of the 40 days Jesus spent in the desert preparing himself for his ministry. It is a traditional time for Christians to sacrifice something meaningful to themselves in solidarity with Jesus and in preparation for the Easter celebration. Going meatless on Mondays is one way we can all make a meaningful sacrifice for ourselves and the planet. To help everyone with their Meatless Monday meal planning, our Team will share a meatless recipe every week during Lent. Going Meatless one day a week saves a significant amount of energy. Fifty-four calories of fuel are needed to create one calorie of beef protein as opposed to three calories of fuel needed to create one calorie of plant protein. Thank you for participating and enjoy the following recipes!
February 21 - Sweet Potato Quinoa Skillet with Kale & Sage (vegan & gluten free)
February 28 - Warming Carrot Cauliflower Stew
March 7 - Creamy Avocado Zoodles
March 14 - Loaded Vegan Queso Skillet Nachos

The Green Team strives to educate and inspire us as a congregation to be better stewards of God's creation by preserving our Earth and its resources. Using the trinity of reduce, reuse, and recycle as our guide, we aim to empower each of us with the tools to consider our role in conservation both within the walls of the church and as members of the society at large.
DRCC's Green Team has a almost obtained their goal of reaching the various levels of Green Action Steps set forth by the United Church of Christ. We reached Level 1 in 2014 and Level 2 in 2017. We are currently working towards Level 3 which is the highest (and most challenging) acheivement to reach.
The Green Team meeting dates are typically the 2nd Tuesdays in the even months at 6:30 pm or as listed in the bulletin. We are eager to hear your views. We welcome everyone to our meetings and encourage our Sunday School students (7th grade and older) to attend on their own or partner up with a parent to work with us. We always encourage new people to join our team and we welcome new ideas as well!
