Deep River Congregational Church offers active and insightful learning opportunities for youth and people of all ages to explore their faith journey.

Faith Explorers

Sundays 10:00am – Ages: Birth–Grade 8

WHERE FAITH AND FUN COME ALIVE

We are excited to announce that we will be referring to our Sunday School this year as Faith Explorers. We are looking forward to seeing how this new name will energize our program.

Join us each Sunday as we begin our morning in the Sanctuary at 10 a.m. After the youth message, we will leave together for our classes. Spread the good word about our Faith Explorers! It is open to all in the community, so bring your friends and neighbors! Be sure to join the fun and participate in all the activities we offer!

Our program overflows with energy and enthusiasm as children learn through activities that teach the Bible, Christian faith, and how spiritual lessons apply to their daily lives. Outdoor activities may be planned as weather permits. Contact Sybil Higgins.

Discovery Den

Our Discovery Den is ready to greet our littlest of friends! Chelsey Hood has volunteered to lead our Little Explorers (toddlers to four year olds) each week with lively Christian lessons, age appropriate crafts, and Bible stories. Chelsey is a teacher by profession, and we look forward to her creativity and enthusiasm with this age group. We encourage our little friends to drop by the Discovery Den and say hello to Miss Chelsey! This class follows the Faith Adventures schedule and parents need to submit a registration form from the link above.  Contact Sybil Higgins.

TOGETHER EVERYONE ACHIEVES MORE (TEAM)

Our 7th/8th grade program will be known as TEAM. Art Robbins, a middle school teacher by profession, will lead this age group with religious instruction and local mission work. Over the course of the year, our high schoolers and 7th/8th graders will join forces to work on team building and special events. This class will meet at the same time as Faith Explorers and parents need to submit a registration form from the link above. Contact Sybil Higgins.

Teen & Adult Learning Opportunities

Teen Issues

Meets Sundays from 10-11am in the relaxing upper room to plan mission projects and discuss issues facing today’s youth. For grades 9-12. Contact Chelsea Chiappa Ehmke.

Adult Bible Study

Adult Bible Study is led by Pastor Tim throughout the year. View our calendar to see when the adult bible study meets. We hope you will join us!

Confirmation

Open to individuals in 9th grade and above, as well as older adults

Confirmation prepares young and older adults for membership in the Church. Confirmation completes the process which, for many, began when they were baptized. It gives young adults the opportunity to accept for themselves the promises their parents made for them at baptism. Classes start in September and Confirmands may pick a mentor of their choice. View our calendar for the next Confirmation class schedule.

Preparing Your Faith Statement

Every Confirmand is asked to prepare a Faith Statement as a culmination of their Confirmation experience. A Faith Statement is an expression of what faith means to you.

Take time to plan and work on your Faith Statement so it is meaningful to you. Think of your hobbies or interests, and work with your mentor to prepare your presentation. You will have the opportunity to present your Faith Statement at the Confirmation luncheon and they will be on display for Confirmation Sunday.

Creative ideas for your Faith Statement:

  • Poem
  • Letter
  • Painting
  • Shadow box
  • Family collage
  • PowerPoint
  • Musical presentation
  • Song or Dance
  • Lyrical or Instrumental composition
